FESTA Rovinj: Regatta Pesaro-Rovinj-Pesaro - 29.04.2012 / 05.05.2012

This largest trans-Adriatic regatta, held for the first time in 1985 now far behind us, was not stopped even by the Homeland War or during the cloud of Chernobyl hovering above the Adriatic. The last one was characterised by the speed record being beaten. The crew of the Orlando from Rimini sailed the Adriatic in six hours and forty-four minutes, thus, having favourable wind, beating the current record holder the result of who was seven hours and thirty-eight minutes. The sailing regatta was attended by 94 crews in total, and twelve of them started from Rovinj for Pesaro. The crews were composed of skippers from Rijeka, Pula, Trieste, Zagreb and Rovinj. Just next to moored sailing boats, the promotion of the town of St Euphemia was traditionally organised in the Italian port. People from Rovinj brought their Pesaro friends cheese, prosciutto, salted sardines, great Istrian wine and loads of promotional material. The craftsmen association of the Marche region returned hospitality with their own delicatessen. Both coastal towns this year saw the organisation of jazz concerts entitled the "Adriatic Jazz Brigge", while the charter on twinning two museums – the Pesaro Naval Museum and the Rovinj Eco-Museum “Batana House” - was signed.
