Summer in Vis, in the town and on the whole island, is traditionally marked by a series of cultural events which, for the entire area of south Croatia at the sunniest time of the year, are unusually lively and active. Indeed, cultural activities in the town are older than those organized summer events, featuring amateur popular groups and individuals who usually in local communities run village activities in general. The pleasant and agreeable environment of Vis in the past has left us with a wealth of places that in the spotlight of summer reflect the character of the venues, especially when attractive music group events take place in spaces such as Batar, Klapavica, Riva, appropriate places in Kut and other squares, castles... Add to this the occasional art events, recitals, folk shows, celebrations and other cultural summer programmes which from year to year are growing in popularity with both the islanders and their increasing numbers of guests.
